SPITE for schools

The LAC students deliver free bespoke workshops to groups of young people in local secondary schools. These workshops aim to educate young people on the law and issues surrounding the sharing of intimate images. Each workshop is specifically designed for the needs of the school or organisation, and we can bespoke the workshop to adapt for different sized groups of young people (e.g. assemblies, classes, small target groups).

All LAC undergraduate law students running these workshops have received Safeguarding Training, undertaken DBS checks and are supervised on the day by qualified volunteer lawyers. In the academic year 2017-18 we visited 17 local schools and approximately 2000 school students sat in our workshops.

The SPITE for schools project is an excellent opportunity to enhance public speaking, communication and team work skills. I think that the issue of image-based sexual abuse is something which is overlooked by many young adolescents. I am thrilled to be taking part in this project. It is also quite fun animating the workshops to make them more engaging and interesting for the students!
